    I tend to play live using IRC (multiple channels makes things much easier) and like to supplement it with voice chat when possible. I prefer Ventrilo or Teamspeak over Skype because of the better voice controls, where Skype is either push-to-talk or a constantly open mic where you get every drop of background noise.
