Does anyone know where one can be found. I am sorely missing it.

Try StephenLS' exalted maps. They're as good as the 'political' maps of Creation goes.

But if you want or need a completely 'blank' map to draw your borders and such on... I've uploaded a copy online. Be aware that it's HUGE.

I hope this has been of help

Only Stephen's maps use the 1st edition map, which doesn't have the elemental poles in a symmetrical pattern, but rather the imperial mountain all skewed..

A brief look at the layout of the Blessed Isle makes it look like it's 2e, but it was a really brief look so I could be wrong.

Nope. That's first edition too.

And on the almost same topic: what program would be best suited to draw your own map? I am especially thinking about loading the existing map and altering it. Making it larger and adding features. Any ideas?

I use Coral Paint Shop Pro XI many others use Abode Photoshop.

If you are going to make it with layers (so you have a layer with only city dots, and it doesn't mess up the landscape below when you move around on the dots), it is by far the easiest way to work with maps untill you have it all fixed and won't alter anything again. Only problem is RAM, just by taking Stephens map and with layers put in the 2E stuff that have come out you can easily use up all your RAM. And the problem only gets bigger that more layers and details you put on, and of course if you resize it bigger. I had a chat with Xeriar (map from the last link), trying to persuade him to give me his layered map, and he told me that currently his map use around 4 GB or RAM, making it almost impossible to work with.
If you don't use layers, and rather wants to draw like you do on paper, then you will have no problems what so ever, find a drawing program, any program, you could even use Paint that comes with Windows. But I would still recoment Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop

I think it comes down to size, no matter what you do... ^_^;

But a way to not 'max' out the Ram needed is to divide up the map in question, quarter the map up and then quarter it again for the section.

And work on it piece by piece. Once you're done, print it out... with each 1/16 portion on a 8/11 piece of paper and combine them back up...

And then... laminate it so you can use draw-erase markers to draw on it. To represent where you are... what's happening where.

Thanks a lot. I tried working with a program called Mapmaker, but ran out of patience. I think I will ignore it completely now, as RAM isn't something I have in spades. Only problem is that the programs you mention cost money, but I guess there are solutions for that too ; )

Haku: That's a nice idea. Especially the one about laminating the maps.

But what would be the best program to work in layers with? I am downloading a demo of Corel Paint Shop X now, for starters, but it doesn't seem to be the best one for working with layers. Or what?

You can alway try what I use; GiMP - http://www.gimp.org

"GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages."

Looks interesting. I'll give it a try. Which of the files do I download? The download section directs me to a list containing files with names like: gimp-2.2.9.tar.bz2 and gimp-2.2.9.tar.bz2.md5. Which file is it?

The maps I've done were using GIMP. And I agree, layers are key.

Look for the .exe, assuming you are running windows.  There is also Gimpshop, it's Gimp but with the menus rearanged and renamed to be similar to Photoshop.
